Amazon removing sales rankings from queer books.

Monday, April 13, 2009
Sales rankings are being removed from gay and lesbian books on Amazon.com because they're considered "adult" books and thus don't appear in some searches or have sales rankings attached to them. Right. That makes sense. Put vibrators on the website and let people rank those, but heaven forbid Brokeback Mountain appear in some searches.

Every time I think we're making progress, we get thrown one step back.

  1. Why do people think that being gay is entirely about sex? Ignorance never ceases to amaze me.

But remember, two steps forward and one step back is still one step forward. <3

  2. I read about that. It was posted over at ONTD and while most people found it outrageous and deplorable, there were the select few standing behind religion saying how wrong homosexuality it. Made me want to choke them.

The other thing that is ridiculous is the first book (and first several really) that come up when you search Amazon books for "homosexuality."

Go try it. See what the first one is.

People are slow to change but change is still happening. It sucks to take a step back but change and equality are working their way to the forefront.
